It is not every day that one gets to witness a striking truck decorated with glass on all sides. The state of Kerala witnessed this phenomenon in the month of May 2022. Trutuff Safety Glass, one of the leading glass processors in South India, and the first glass processing facility in South India to achieve an ISI 2553 Part 1 certification, in collaboration with the world leaders in glass industry, Saint Gobain, and media entity Malayala Manorama, organised and implemented an all Kerala road campaign called ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’. This innovative campaign which saw a Bharat Benz truck with multiple glass cabins inside making its rounds across Kerala, educating individuals about the useful yet unheard applications of various types of toughened glass in everyday life architecture.
A first of its kind campaign, ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’ was flagged off in Kochi by MD of KMRL (Kochi Metro Rail Limited) Mr.Loknath Behra, in the esteemed presence of CREDAI Kochi (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India) Secretary Mr.Ravi Shankar T.N., IIA (Indian Institute of Architects) Kerala chapter Chairman Ar. L. Gopakumar, MD of Trutuff Safety Glass Mr.Maqbool Rahman, Saint Gobain Glass India Regional Manager (Distribution – South) Mr.V.B.Ramesh, and Malayalam Manorama’s Marketing General Manager Mr.B.Balagopal.
Commencing on May 4th from Kasargode district, ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’ travelled across the length and breadth of Kerala, enlightening the public about the various unpopular applications of glass, and offering them an opportunity to experience and comprehend different kinds of glass offerings. It came as a surprise to the masses when ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’ helped them understand that glass is often employed as an aesthetically pleasing architectural constituent that offers optimal light transmission with solar heat cutting, sound proofing, safety, strength and other advantages. This is made possible with a special breed of glass called toughened glass, the variations of which lend comfort to the residents, be it in crowded cities, or areas brimming with heat. The glass experts from Trutuff Safety Glass explained and demonstrated in detail, the advantages of Laminated glass, Double Glazed Unit (DGU) glass, toughened glass and performance glass.
‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’ was welcomed cordially by architects, future home owners, builders, fabricators and traders across the state. Many traders received ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’ with hoots and cheers, such as Glass Art in Padanilam, where in, a separate welcome ceremony was inaugurated by MLA PT Raheem. Similarly, music director Ousepacchan graced his presence by inaugurating Trutuff Glass Vandi campaign at Varna Group’s office.
IIA Kerala State Awards conducted in Kannur on May 5th and 6th, inaugurated by Shri P. A. Mohammed Riyas, State Minister for Public Works Department and Tourism, an event which housed 500+ architects, also witnessed ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’. Similarly, ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’ found audience across various architectural educational institutes in Kerala, with the campaign aiming to inculcate the advantages of using toughened glass for real-world architectural problems to a newer generation of architects. Many reputed institutes such as NIT Calicut, TKM Kollam, College of Architecture – Trivandrum, Asian School of Design and Architecture Innovation – Ernakulam, Mangalam School of Architecture and Planning – Kottayam and others hosted ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’.
‘Trutuff Glass vandi’ conducted a lucky draw contest for the visitors, the winners of which would be gifted an Apple iPad, an Apple Tablet, and a smart phone. With initiatives like ‘Trutuff Glass Vandi’, unseen in the industry before, Trutuff Safety Glass stands out as an entity that always strives for the betterment of the industry.
